Good Cause: Mackenzie's Animal Sanctuary
Located in Lake Odessa, Michigan, Mackenzie's Animal Sanctuary is the Midwest's largest sheltered no-kill sanctuary. It was founded by the Azzar family in August 1999 after the passing of their beloved dog Mackenzie. The organization's goal is to save abused, abandoned and neglected dogs and place them in loving homes. Their mission is to maintain the highest standards of care for the animals, including medical care, housing, love, tenderness and compassion.
Mackenzie's was nominated for Van Wyk's corporate giving program by Becky Cooper. Becky is a dedicated volunteer at Mackenzie's and enjoys her time playing with the dogs and providing compassion and companionship to them. Van Wyk is proud to support our employees as they give back in meaningful ways. And, as risk managers ourselves, it seems fitting that we are lessening the risk for these at-risk dogs.
The mission of Van Wyk’s corporate giving program, which began in 2001, is to give back to the community through financial support as well as non-monetary donations. Van Wyk’s employees, clients, business partners, and the organizations themselves are encouraged to submit request for consideration. Only registered 501c3 nonprofits are eligible to receive funds through this program. All gift requests must be submitted in writing to Van Wyk’s office (attn: Jessica VanSolkema) and include how the funds will be used.
