Alison Van Wyk

Vice President

Alison provides strategic leadership and direction as part of Van Wyk's executive team. As the director of Van Wyk's personal insurance department, she analyzes the unique risk exposures of high net worth individuals and develops customized programs and solutions for their personal property and liability exposures. She works closely with Van Wyk's Personal Client Manager to deliver security, protection and peace of mind to Van Wyk's personal clients.

Alison also develops and manages Family Tree programs to handle the various personal insurance and risk management needs of the owners, executives and families involved in family businesses. And, she creates discounted employee group programs for Van Wyk's commercial clients.

Additionally, Alison is the director of Van Wyk's one-of-a-kind internship program in partnership with Calvin College and Lloyd's of London.

Anna Johnson

Receptionist

Anna is the friendly and helpful voice Van Wyk clients hear when they call our main number and the first person to warmly greet them when they arrive at our office.

Anna has nearly a decade of customer service experience and is responsible for assessing the needs of callers and visitors and directing them to the right Van Wyk professional, along with various other administrative duties.

Additionally, Anna manages motor vehicle reports and certificate of insurance requests, issuing them under Van Wyk's 24-hour turnaround policy.

Audrey Freeman

Audrey puts her international business experience and insurance knowledge to work for Van Wyk’s clients. She is a graduate of Van Wyk’s internship program in affiliation with Calvin College and Lloyd’s of London.

Audrey is a dedicated community volunteer and has a passion to serve.

Becky Cooper

Personal Client Manager

As Personal Client Manager, Becky is responsible for serving as an advocate, advisor and ally for Van Wyk's personal clients, analyzing their unique risk exposures and developing customized solutions for their personal property and liability exposures.

Becky has 20 years of industry experience. She uses her previous underwriting experience to benefit Van Wyk's clients, counseling them on eligibility, coverage options and needed documentation and claims.

Becky is a dedicated volunteer for Mackenzie's Animal Sanctuary, a no kill shelter for dogs.

Chris serves a dual role at Van Wyk, helping both businesses and families with their risk management needs.

Chris' areas of expertise include group association programs and specialty industries. Additionally, Chris manages the company's proprietary certificate of insurance management programs. He also handles various bonding needs for Van Wyk clients, including contract bonds.

Chris brings years of customer service and corporate experience to Van Wyk. He is a graduate of Van Wyk's internship program in affliation with Calvin College and Lloyd's of London.

Daniel Vander Baan

As Commercial Client Executive, Dan serves as an account leader and advisor for Van Wyk's commercial clients. In addition, Dan's legal expertise enables Van Wyk to add yet another valuable service to our suite of comprehensive risk management solutions.

Dan is experienced in contract interpretation and negotiation, corporate due diligence, business law, mergers and acquisitions, and general risk management and liability consulting.

While he is versed in many areas of risk management, one of Dan's specialty practice areas is captive programs and other risk transfer solutions, and he puts his extensive experience in the furniture manufacturing industry to work for Van Wyk's clients as well.

David also serves on Van Wyk's executive team as Senior Vice President, and as the team leader for commercial clients locally, regionally and worldwide. He works closely with the client managers to deliver innovative risk management solutions and exceptional service to our clients.

While he is versed in many areas of risk management, his specialty practice areas include large national and multi-national risk management programs, loss sensitive plans, single parent and group captives, and London and Bermuda placements, among others.

While he is versed in many areas of risk management, Dave's specialty practice areas include marine insurance, construction insurance, bond and surety, and large casualty risks. He uses his expertise and former experience as a bond underwriter and manager at a casualty and surety company in a consulting capacity for Van Wyk's clients.

Jessica VanSolkema

Vice President of Marketing

Jessica leads the company's marketing department, public relations efforts, and special events. She also provides leadership and strategic direction as part of Van Wyk's executive team.

Jessica is responsible for creating and implementing strategies for business development, advancing corporate communications and coordinating community and client relationship-building efforts. She also directs and implements the company's advertising, marketing, corporate giving and communication initiatives. Her task is to continually communicate the many reasons why Van Wyk is the company where clients come for good.

Justin Haan

Intern

As Van Wyk’s 2012 Calvin College intern, Justin will be involved in a variety of meaningful work projects while learning about the insurance and risk management industry. He will also have the opportunity to earn his property & casualty insurance license and will spend three weeks in Great Britain working with a partner agency.

Justin is currently a senior at Calvin College pursuing a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics with a concentration in Mathematics and a minor in Geology. He recently completed a competitive summer research program as a McGregor Research Fellow, and has also served as a Student Research Assistant in the Calvin College Economics Department.


Linda DeVries

Financial Administrator

Linda manages financial functions for Van Wyk, including accounting management, payroll, account receivables and payables, and budgeting. She also coordinates service contracts with many of the company's vendors.

Additionally, Linda is the company's technology coordinator for Van Wyk's state-of-the-art Agency Management System. Linda also tracks the educational pursuits of Van Wyk's professionals, assisting with licensing in 40+ states and the continuing education requirements of Van Wyk's professionals. She has more than 20 years of financial services experience.

Linda Paulsen

Commercial Client Manager

As Commercial Client Manager, Linda is an integral part of a client's account team. She provides technical support and analysis, works with insurance carriers on behalf of our clients, and fulfills daily client service needs and requests. She also manages technical underwriting and new business submissions to more than fifty insurance outlets.

Linda has more than 30 years of industry experience in risk management and insurance. Her specialty practice areas include loss sensitive programs, contractors, nursery business, large business and new business. She uses her prior experience as a commercial underwriter to benefit Van Wyk's clients, counseling them on eligibility, coverage options and needed documentation and claims.

Linda is very active in the support of military families. She is the proud mother of an Iraqi war veteran and currently has a son-in-law serving in the United States Marine Corps.

Chief Executive Officer

Max founded the Van Wyk Insurance Agency, now known as Van Wyk Risk & Financial Management, in 1982 with the desire to build long-term relationships built on trust and service excellence. Since then, the company has grown into a multi-million dollar risk management firm and earned the reputation of being the company where clients come for good.

Max has 40 years of risk management and insurance experience. As CEO, Max provides strategic leadership and direction as part of the company's executive team. He manages the company's underwriting authority, serves as account team counselor and sales director, and is very active as a leader of Van Wyk's professionals.

While he is versed in many areas of risk management, Max's specialty areas of expertise include underwriting and developing truly innovative, industry-first programs to benefit Van Wyk's clients.

While Mike is well versed in risk management for a variety of industries, his specialty areas of expertise include the food, manufacturing and retail industries, and he serves as the risk management resource for the Michigan State University Department of Agricultural, Food and Resource Economics.

Mike also counsels Van Wyk's clients in alternative risk financing strategies such as offshore single parent and group captives, as well as other types of self insurance, and large national and multinational accounts.

Patti has more than 25 years of industry experience.
